This site has been a long time coming: the chief sin of all web designers is to fail to update their own sites. In my case, building the site — or rather, finalising the design — has been the central problem.

As you can see, I've incorporated a blog as well, much as I loathe the term. 'Blog' would have to rank with 'gibbous' as one of the ugliest words in English, and its novelty doesn't help. That's why I've used the synonym 'journal' instead. Consider it a small, perhaps pointless protest.

Like all web logs, this is primarily a place for me to ramble; unlike many, I won't pretend that it's some sort of journalism (despite the common etymology). There's more to journalism (I hope) than jotting down ideas.
